Emmy award-winning comedian Dana Carvey, one of Saturday Night Live’s most talented alumni, will bring his brilliant, unrestrained comedic style, wit and personality to The Grand Del Mar, Saturday March 12 for the Rancho Santa Fe Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary fundraising event: Stand Up for Rady Children’s Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, an Evening With Dana Carvey. During his seven-year run on SNL, Carvey became well known for some of the show’s most memorable characters including the Church Lady, Hans of the Hans and Franz bodybuilding duo, Weekend Update’s Grumpy Old Man, and Garth, the “excellent co-host” of the popular comedy sketch, Wayne’s World. Along with Mike Meyers, Carvey reprised his “party-on dude” role for the box-office smashes “Wayne’s World” and “Wayne’s World 2.” Carvey has appeared or starred in over a dozen films, including his debut in the 1984 cult classic, “This is Spinal Tap: A Rockumentary by Martin Di Bergi.”

Returning 2010 gala chair Cindy Leonard said, “Many of our supporters will have great memories of enjoying his funny SNL characters and George Bush, Jimmy Carter, and Ross Perot impersonations. The chance to see his characters come alive on stage will no doubt be a memorable experience.”

The event will begin at 5:30 PM with a silent auction during which guests will enjoy cocktails and an informal dinner atmosphere with a variety of food station selections to suit all tastes. Attendees will then move to theater-style seating for the live auction followed by a one-hour performance by Dana Carvey. The fundraiser will conclude with dessert and dancing until midnight. Dress is cocktail attire. Proceeds of which will benefit the Rady Children’s Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.

McCain, Inc. and Ranch and Coast Magazine are the first sponsors to commit to the event.  Sponsorships are available from $2,500 to $100,000. VIP Meet & Greet packages start at $15,000. Tickets are $1,000 per person for premium seating, and a limited number of  $750 and $500 tickets are also available. Seating at all levels is limited.
